Rosa Patch Notes: August 2026
Welcome back to Patch Notes!
Highlights
Pictures posted in a ticket now stay in its transcript. Transcripts used to point at Discord’s own copies, which stop working after about a day, so pictures turned into broken boxes. Pictures, clips and files are now saved the moment they’re posted.
Rosa Support · Website
Rosa Wildlife answers /whoami again. For a while the command failed for everyone who tried it. It works again, and its replies look the same as before.
Rosa Wildlife
The front page no longer breaks after its first visitor. When the news and events strip arrived, the front page worked for the first person to open it and showed an error to everyone after. It stays up now.
Website
Web buddies and backgrounds now upload to their own slots. Both were landing in your gallery and using up its spots, so a full gallery meant you couldn’t upload either. You now get 5 banners, 3 web buddies, 2 backgrounds and 3 gallery pictures, each counted on its own.
Website
Uploading a picture no longer erases what you were typing on your page. Everything you’d written was wiped when an upload finished. That’s fixed, and the site now asks before you leave a page with changes you haven’t saved.
Website
Around the site
- Fixed a bug where signed-in sprouts saw a “Sign in” button on the legal pages.
- Fixed a bug where signing in failed if you had opened the site through its www address.
- The www address of the front page now sends you to the main site, like every other page already did.
- Added a sign out button to the menu on phones, which had no way to sign out at all.
- Fixed the phone menu overlapping the top bar, and it now closes when you pick a page or tap outside it.
- Fixed menus in the top bar turning invisible when opened over the artwork on the front page.
- Fixed the “Apply to join” and “Sign in” buttons being nearly unreadable in dark mode.
- Fixed two theme switches that could disagree about whether the site was in light or dark mode.
- The sun and moon in the corner now rise when you switch themes and then leave, instead of staying on every page.
- The moon icon now looks like a moon. The old one was two blobs.
- Following a link now lands you at the top of the next page instead of partway down it.
- Links to the site shared in Discord now show a preview picture and the Reserve’s color stripe down the side.
- Artwork across the site is sharper, now that it’s no longer squeezed to a lower quality on the way to you.
- Every species on the roster now has its artwork, including nine that were missing.
- Clicking a species on the front page now scrolls straight to its artwork and rests it in the middle of the strip.
- Removed the dark bar that ran across every section banner on the front page.
- Fixed a line that ran across the screen wherever an artwork strip met the page.
- The front page’s count of playable creatures now matches the list below it. It said 34. The list said 35. The list was right.
- The front page no longer says the other mods we run as though we made them.
- Fixed the footer listing News twice and running it into the changelog link. It read “NewsWhat’s new”, which isn’t a page we have.
- Times are now shown in your own time zone, and “2 minutes ago” keeps counting while a page is open.
- Every time on the site now uses the 12-hour clock, like 7:40 pm.
- Every date on the site now spells out the month, so none of them can be read two ways.
- Tables now fit on a phone, with each row shown as its own card instead of running off the side of the screen.
- Long lines with no spaces, like a divider made of symbols, now wrap instead of making the whole site zoom out on phones.
- Confirmation boxes now open in the middle of the screen instead of the top left corner. Up there, they looked like something had failed to load.
- Every button now shows a spinner while it’s working, including the ones written as plain text, so you don’t press twice.
- Pages now show an outline of what’s coming while they load, instead of leaving the old page sitting there.
- Search results now show that they’re still loading while a new search runs.
- About 40 buttons that said things like “Look at it” or “Remove it” now name what they act on.
- Messages across the site now say what went wrong and what to do next.
- Errors now come with a reference code you can give staff, so they can see what went wrong.
- The site now uses American English throughout, including the legal pages.
- Older changelog headings now name the change directly.
- Empty lists now show a small fern and a line about what fills them.
- Everything on the site and in the bots now calls you a sprout, not a member.
- The Sprouts link in the menu now only shows once you’re signed in.
- The sprout list now narrows as you type, and a link to a search still opens it filtered.
- The sprout list now shows 20 sprouts to a page, with page numbers you can press.
- The line above the sprout list now counts sprouts instead of pages.
- A page number past the end of the sprout list now offers to take you back to page 1.
- Cards on the sprout list now have shadows and light up when you hover over them.
- The sprout list and the page editor now fit on narrow phones without scrolling sideways.
- Your own card on the sprout list now opens your page instead of the editor.
- Fixed a bug where everyone on the team showed a Backstage badge instead of their own job.
- Role cards now look the same on every page, even on a page with its own styling.
- Role cards now use the team’s own description of each role.
Your page and pictures
- Saving your page no longer switches the site back to light mode.
- Links to your page show your picture again when pasted into Discord.
- Some pages were missing a join date, and every page now shows one.
- Pressing Enter now starts a new line in anything you write, and pressing it twice leaves a gap. A small thing, until you try to write a list.
- Underscores inside a word, like in a name or an ID, are no longer read as formatting.
- Bold, italics and links can now sit inside each other without the asterisks showing.
- Writing that’s too long is now refused with a count instead of being cut off without warning.
- A stylesheet over the limit is now refused with a character count instead of being cut in half.
- Layered backgrounds in your page styling no longer vanish without a word when they run long.
- Nested rules in your page styling now work, instead of being applied halfway.
- Your saved styling now opens by itself in the editor instead of hiding in a closed box.
- A saved layout only says it’s in use when your page is actually using it.
- Saving a layout now includes your latest changes, and saving and picking layouts happen in one place.
- The styling preview now shows your real page, scaled down, instead of a rough copy of it.
- Styling previews now use the name your page shows instead of your Discord username.
- A gradient on your name now shows both colors instead of only the first one.
- Ready-made looks no longer leave pale text on a pale background.
- Headings and links in a color close to your background are now adjusted just enough to stay readable.
- Captions, cards and badges on a styled page now keep the page’s own colors in light and dark mode.
- Styled pages now have space below the top bar, so their rounded corners show.
- Menus and the reaction picker on a styled page are no longer see-through.
- Your page styling now reaches the character cards on your page.
- Headings on styled character pages are no longer rounded at the top and square at the bottom.
- The notice about who can see your page now sits above your page, in the site’s colors.
- Your name now sits below your banner photo instead of on top of it.
- Your banner now shows exactly the part you cropped, and a little taller on computers.
- Your first approved banner now goes on your page by itself.
- Removing or reframing a banner works again. Both buttons had been doing nothing, without so much as an error.
- All your approved banners now share one set of controls instead of each having its own copy.
- Short captions no longer leave an empty strip under a gallery picture.
- Pictures placed inside your writing no longer have a thin border around them.
- The side panel on a page no longer slides under the top bar or loses its first line on short screens.
- The save button now follows you down the page editor and the styling card.
- Saving in the page editor no longer sends you back to the top.
- The styling card now says that your own stylesheet wins over the options above it.
- Approved pictures now say “approved” everywhere, instead of “shown” in some places.
- Messages about your pictures and your page now link to your page and say which picture they mean.
- Removing a picture, removing a banner and deleting a saved design now ask first.
- Deleting your page now lists everything that goes with it, including your styling, saved designs and comments.
- Declining or reporting a comment on your page now asks first.
- Clicking outside the reaction picker or pressing Escape now closes it.
- Reactions with a deleted emoji now disappear instead of leaving a broken square.
- Fixed four server emoji that showed as broken squares in the reaction picker.
- A page or a comment can now have up to 20 different reactions, so the row stays readable.
- Joining a reaction someone else started no longer counts toward your own limit.
- You can no longer react to your own page.
- Pronouns are now written in lowercase on every page, including ones already saved.
- You can upload up to 12 pictures a day, and pictures the screener turns away count too.
- Files that aren’t really pictures are now refused right away, with a note on what to do instead.
- Animated PNGs and WebPs now keep moving after upload instead of turning into a still on a white square.
- A full upload slot now tells you which kind of picture is full.
- Web buddy pictures now show on a checkerboard while you choose, so a white background stands out.
- A web buddy without a see-through background is no longer turned away, and you’re told what arrived instead. On a Mac or iPhone, picking an animation from Photos can hand over a flat copy. Pick the file from Files or Finder instead.
- Long web buddy captions now wrap instead of stopping after one line.
- The figure in the corner of a page is now called a web buddy everywhere.
- The picture screener now adds up its two checks, so it catches explicit drawings it used to let through.
Characters, nests and courtship
- Nine commands, including /familytree and /adopt, were refused for everyone, and they work now.
- Claiming an egg now records the skins it carries too, so they keep passing down after the second generation.
- Subspecies now pass down to hatchlings instead of being lost after a generation.
- Joining a nest as a second parent now asks which character you mean instead of picking your first one.
- Picking your character’s carried skins twice in a row no longer ends in an error.
- Character screens now respond right away on busy evenings instead of seeming to freeze.
- The species list, the skin field and the reply for having no characters now say what they’re asking for.
- Courtship and nesting buttons now name their action, like “Accept new partner” or “Start courtship”.
- Choices that delete something in the character, catalog and shop menus now say what stays and what can’t be recovered.
- Character, nesting and shop messages now say what to change when something fails.
- The shop’s page buttons work again, and now read Previous and Next. On a middle page, two buttons shared a name and Discord refused the whole message. First and Last now only show when there are more than two pages.
- The switch that leaves paid skins out of a genetics roll now leaves out personal, partner and bug tracker skins too.
- Your characters are now listed once on your dashboard instead of in two lists with the same name.
- The roster on the front page now marks apex species next to their names.
- Character and giveaway messages now use American spelling.
Reports, penalties and appeals
- Screenshots on a report no longer disappear overnight, because Rosa now saves a copy as soon as you post one.
- Clip links are now accepted from 11 sites, including Twitch, Outplayed, Reddit, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and Gyazo.
- Appeals now accept links to clips as evidence, not only uploads.
- A large clip attached to an appeal no longer wipes the form if saving fails.
- Withdrawing an appeal now asks first, and says that a penalty can only be appealed once.
- Fixed a misspelling of Rhamphorhynchus that stopped an apex suspension from covering it.
Tickets
- Fixed a bug where nobody could open a ticket once a second kind of ticket had been opened.
- Fixed /open failing on the evening of August 23.
- Transcripts now show what Rosa Support said, instead of a blank line under its name.
- Tickets no longer open with a gray line saying the bot pinned a message. It was true. It just wasn’t useful.
- The line above a reply in a transcript now quotes the message as plain text, with names instead of number strings.
- A deleted message in a transcript now shows the message first, in red, with a small note saying when it was deleted.
- Transcripts now fit on a phone screen, and printing one no longer gives a solid black page.
- Clips your browser can’t play now show as a file with a note, instead of a black box.
- The picture from a link preview is now saved with the ticket, so the transcript no longer shows an empty box.
- Pasting a Discord link to a picture in a ticket now saves it the same way as uploading it.
- Longer recordings posted in a ticket are no longer skipped when they take a while to copy.
- A missing file in a transcript now says whether it was too large to save or couldn’t be copied.
- Reading a transcript no longer loads anything from the site a link preview came from.
- Trying to open a kind of ticket that’s switched off now names which kind it is.
- An escalated ticket now tells you it went to more senior staff and what happens next.
- A ticket staff open with you now names both the staff member and you.
- Ticket buttons now say “ticket”, and messages say plainly who claimed it and where to find the transcript.
- The opening message no longer promises that nothing leaves the channel, and asks for the whole problem up front.
- The revive ticket is now only for revives, and appeals go through the website.
- Renaming a claimed ticket now keeps the claim emoji in the channel name.
- Your list of tickets on the site now shows 5 at a time, with pages.
Joining and applications
- The section on applying now says where you apply, and its button shows as soon as applications open.
- The application form now fills in the dashes in your Alderon ID as you type.
- The application form now asks for your Alderon ID and in-game name, and refuses an ID that isn’t 9 digits before you send it.
- Linking your account now says you’re verified, not whitelisted.
- Verifying your account no longer tells you that staff changed your registry entry.
- Linking your account no longer says the game server is unreachable while the game connection is switched off.
- Registry entries now show only your Discord and Alderon names and IDs.
- Registry details are now posted as plain text, so you can copy a single ID.
- Registry changes made on the website now show in the registry channel, like changes made in Discord.
- An Alderon ID that’s already on someone else’s registry entry now gets a reply saying to clear it from that entry.
- The registry card on your dashboard now says anyone can find you by your handle, not only staff.
In the game
- If you can log in to the game server, the registry now marks you as whitelisted, even if nobody had yet.
- An apex suspension is now checked when you log in, so it applies in the game and not only on paper.
Discord and the bots
- All four bots now reply to commands the same way, and a bot that just restarted no longer answers twice.
- Commands you can’t use no longer show up in your command list.
- Added replies to direct messages, so each bot now tells you where to ask, with a dinosaur fact at the end.
- Bot buttons now name what they act on, like “Claim ticket” or “Enter giveaway”.
- Bot replies now say which action they’re about, in American English.
- The note shown when a command takes a while no longer guesses at the cause.
- The /whoami hint no longer mentions a feature that was removed.
- The welcome, the check-in button and the role menus now come from Rosa Wildlife Reserve.
Accessibility
- Animated web buddies are now hidden if your device is set to reduce motion.
- If your device asks for less motion, switching themes now happens without the sun and moon animation.
- Confirmation boxes now have names screen readers can announce, and the phone menu keeps focus inside it while open.
- Tables shown as cards on a phone now keep their structure for screen readers.
- Links that were too faint against the cream background in light mode are now darker.
- Screen readers now get the exact date and time behind every time shown on the site.
Speed and reliability
- The front page loads faster, and each section now fades in at once instead of line by line.
- Your dashboard now shows up right away, with your tickets, characters and Patreon cards filling in just after.
- Pictures now load faster on phones, sent at the size your screen needs.
- Messages from the site that Discord turns away now go out again within a couple of minutes, instead of the next day.
- Expired sign-ins, unfinished account links and unused growth codes are now deleted every week.
