These guidelines cover everything you write or upload on rosarealism.com: your own page, your characters, the pictures on either, and anything you send us. The zero tolerance policy sits above them and is not repeated here. Where the two overlap, the stricter one applies.
Using this site means agreeing to these. Nobody is asked to read them twice, so they are kept short and say what actually happens.
What you may post
The Reserve is a game community with members of every age in it. Everything on this site is written for all of them.
- Keep it suitable for everybody. If you would not put it in a channel where a fourteen year old is reading, it does not go here.
- Write about your own characters and your own play. This is a place to introduce yourself, not to advertise, recruit, or sell anything.
- Say things about other people that you would say to them.
Pictures
Two places take pictures: your characters, and your own page. They are not for the same thing.
On a character
A picture on a character has to show that character. A screenshot of them in game, a piece of artwork of them, a reference sheet. Up to three each.
That is the whole rule, and it is there because the gallery on a character is how somebody else recognises them in the world. A picture of something else on it makes the roster useless for the one thing it is for.
On your own page
Anything you like, within these guidelines. Artwork, a screenshot, a photograph of yourself, something you made. It does not have to be about the Reserve at all.
Never, on either
- Anything sexual, suggestive, or shown as a body in a way meant to be looked at that way. This includes artwork and includes characters. There is no version of this that is allowed here.
- Gore, real violence, injury, or anything from a real incident.
- Slurs, hateful symbols, or anything the zero tolerance policy covers, whether written in the picture or shown in it.
- Somebody else's photograph of a real person who has not agreed to it. Your own face is yours to post; theirs is not.
- Art you did not make and do not have permission to use. Credit the artist in the caption when it is theirs, and do not post commissions that are not yours to show.
- Anything made by an image generator. Files from those tools carry a tag saying so and are refused automatically. Editing one afterwards does not change the answer: ask in a ticket rather than uploading it again.
- Anything designed to be shocking rather than to be looked at.
How pictures are approved
Every picture is looked at by a member of staff before anybody else can see it.
- A file that says it was made by a generator is refused straight away, and so is anything a screening model is certain contains nudity. Both can be appealed, and then a person looks.
- Everything else waits. Only you can see it in the meantime, marked as waiting.
- This normally takes 24 to 72 hours. Staff are volunteers in several time zones and there is no queue-jumping.
- If it is turned down you are told, and told why.
- A refusal by one of the automatic checks can be sent to a person. There is a button on your own page for it, and somebody looks properly.
- A decision a member of staff made is final. They are the second look. If you think it was wrong, open a ticket and talk to them: that is a conversation, not another form.
- Staff are told when an automatic check refuses something, and repeated refusals are looked at as a pattern. This is not a filter you are meant to test.
- Approval is not a promise. A picture can be taken down later if something about it turns out to be a problem, and the same applies to anything you write.
Uploading something you know breaks these guidelines wastes somebody's evening. Doing it repeatedly is what costs people their access.
What staff can do
Staff can act on anything on this site. In rough order of how often it happens:
- Turn down a picture before it is ever shown, with a reason.
- Take down a picture that was approved, if it turns out to be a problem.
- Edit or clear something written on a page: a line, a caption, or the whole thing.
- Suspend a page. It stops being visible to anybody but you and staff. You are told why and it can be lifted.
- Take away access to member pages entirely, for somebody who keeps posting things they have been told not to. Their page goes and they cannot make another.
You are told every time, by direct message, with the reason. Nothing here happens quietly: an action nobody is told about is one nobody can put right.
If you think staff got it wrong
Open a ticket and say so. Staff would rather be told they were wrong than have somebody leave over it. A penalty on your record is a different thing and goes through the appeals process on this site instead.
Your work stays yours
What you write and upload is yours. Posting it here lets the Reserve show it on this site and nothing else: it is not used anywhere else, not sold, and not handed to anybody.
Delete your page and it goes. Ask us to remove a picture and it is removed. The one exception is anything already part of a moderation record, which is kept because a decision nobody can check is not a decision anybody should trust.
