Rosa Patch Notes: October 2026
Welcome back to Patch Notes!
Highlights
Every new bug report gets its 🐛, its reference and a note from Rosa Wildlife Reserve. A report could slip past the bot and get none of them. Any report it missed is now picked up within a few minutes.
Rosa Wildlife
Signing in with Discord works again. Discord changed how it sends you back to the site after you sign in, and the site refused it. Sorry about that!
Website
A part of the site that’s closed now keeps the menu at the top and the footer at the bottom.
Website
Reading the site no longer warms up some Android phones. Thanks to everyone who ran the heat check! The colors behind each page now stay still on phones, so your battery lasts longer too.
Website
The member a private report is about can no longer see who filed it. Neither the discussion in Discord nor the case page on the site names the person who filed it anymore, except to staff.

Around the site
- Flipping a switch or saving something no longer throws you back to the top of the page.
- Copying a Discord username now gives you just the username, ready to paste.
- The welcome tour on your dashboard now waits until you close What’s new.
- The front page now shows how many players are on the Reserve right now. The In game figure was meant to be there from the start, but it never had a count to show.
- The In game count on the front page is right again straight after a server restart. It now comes from the game server itself, so it no longer counts players who were on before the restart.
- The calendar and the "In alpha" link on the front page are now big enough to tap on a phone.
- A failed redeem no longer shows its message twice, and you can no longer press Redeem before you can use a code.
- Jumping to a message in a transcript no longer scrolls smoothly when your device is set to reduce motion.
- Story and note boxes now show how many characters you have left. Each one holds 10,000 characters. The box used to say nothing about it and quietly cut anything past that when you saved. Thanks to the sprout who spotted it!
- Signing in without being in the Rosa Discord server now tells you so, with a link to join.
- Videos on news posts and sprout pages now load only when you press play.
- The privacy statement no longer runs two words together in its section about your rights.
- The site now says whether applications are open right now. Between rounds, the front page and your dashboard say they’re closed, and the apply button waits until the next round opens.
- A part of the site that’s closed now stops saving too, not only showing. A page left open from before the closure takes you to the status page instead of saving.
- Your birthday cake now shows in full on your dashboard, and the balloons rise once you close the birthday popup.
- A banner waiting for staff now shows under Pictures on your page editor. The count at the top of your page editor includes it too, along with your web buddies and backgrounds.
- The apply page no longer points you to questions that aren’t shown yet. Before a round opens, the page now says to come back once it does.
- Editing a character now gives the right picture allowance: 12 in any 24 hours, your own page included.
- The menu on your phone no longer runs under your browser’s bottom bar.
- Fixed an issue where text fields and buttons were hard to make out against the page.
- Links and buttons in the menus, the footer and on your page are now big enough to tap on a phone.
- Fixed an issue where comments on a sprout page stopped after the first fifty.
- A picture you take down is now kept privately for 14 days and then deleted for good, as the privacy statement says.
- Every page now loads about half as much code, so the site opens faster on a phone.
- After signing in from the apply page or your tickets, you now land back where you were.
- Rosa Relay now has uptime bars on the status page, like the other bots.
- The scroll hint on the front page no longer covers the second button on a phone.
- The day shown next to an event is now your own day, the same as the time beside it.
- Version numbers on the versions page are now big enough to tap on a phone.
- The List button on the news page shows the news as rows again after you chose the grid.
- Birthday sprouts only shows your own page on your own birthday.
- Times on the status page are always in English now, whatever language your browser uses.
- A web address in a status page update is now a link you can press.
- The reference on a status page incident now lines up with the rest of the card.
- The status page header no longer has a second button that led to the website.
- The status page checks that pictures load, instead of showing them as not monitored.
- The status page no longer shows the game server or Cloudflare as having trouble when they were working.
- The status page no longer shows Rosa Terminal or the whitelist as having trouble when they’re only quiet.
- The status page now waits for Rosa’s hourly check of members who left, and shows every part of Rosa Terminal by name.
- The status page no longer shows the control center as having trouble between its hourly updates.
- The birthday card on a sprout page no longer squeezes its words to one letter per line on a phone.
- The birthday popup now shows on your birthday even if you saw the old confetti earlier that day.
- Days with maintenance or an incident now show in their color on the status page bars, including days from before the bars began.
- A link to your sprout page shows your background picture in its preview again.
- Rosa Relay reads a message aloud to the end instead of stopping a few seconds in.
- Rosa Relay no longer reads messages from bots, webhooks or its own transcript aloud.
- The Back to sprouts button is easy to read on a sprout page with a background picture.
- An upload that can’t read your file now says so and lets you try again, instead of hanging on preparing.
- The privacy statement now says exactly what happens when you leave the server. It also lists a few more things we delete on a schedule, such as unfinished account links and drafts.
- Running /link with an Alderon ID that isn’t on your registry entry now says so straight away. It tells you which ID is on record, instead of leaving you waiting for a code in game that can’t arrive.
- Saving the text on your sprout page now says who can see it correctly. It used to say only you could see it, even on a public page.
- Your birthday cake now sits in the middle of the birthday card on your dashboard.
- Saving a form no longer pops up the browser’s “Leave site?” question. It could appear on top of a confirmation, such as when deleting a character, if the site had just been updated.
- A ticket keeps your answers in the order the questions were asked.
- Screen readers now name every form field on the site, with its hint and any error.
- The menu on your phone now has a close button inside it for screen readers.
- A canceled event on the calendar on your phone is now an empty ring, not only a different color.
- Spinners and pulsing placeholders now stand still when your device is set to reduce motion.
- An error on the sign-in or apply page is now the first thing a screen reader reads out.
- Reporting the same comment on your page again now says staff are already looking at it.
- Pressing Send twice on a report now files it once.
- Changing your vote on a suggestion now moves the count by one, however quickly you press.
- An old courtship post can no longer bring back a courtship that ended.
- An adoption now waits for the other character’s owner to accept it. They get a direct message with Accept and Decline, and you hear their answer either way.
- You can’t send the same adoption request again while the owner hasn’t answered it yet. You can ask again after they answer or after 10 minutes, and send up to 5 adoption requests an hour.
- A copy of your data now includes every record, however long your history is.
- Opening two character pickers at once can no longer put you on the same nest twice.
- The shop and giving petals or items are closed to members who are banned.
- In-game commands now refuse extra words, quotes or semicolons where one word belongs, and tell you what to type instead.
- Sign out, the favorite star and the picture buttons on your page can’t be pressed twice by accident.
- Asking twice about the same picture now says you already asked, instead of showing an error page.
- Saving your birthday twice at the same moment no longer gets past the limit on changes.
- A link to an event that isn’t published yet no longer shows its title or picture in the preview.
- A bug report gets its welcome note once, not twice.
- Rosa Relay keeps its voice transcript in order, and keeps reading aloud when the voice service is slow. It also leaves the voice channel properly when it restarts.
- Events now show on the right day in the calendar wherever you live. An event could show a day early west of the UK, and the calendar could circle the wrong day as today.
- Your playtime is no longer counted twice when you’re on the server while it’s being added up.
- The status page no longer runs into an error while it loads. You can also move through the day bars with your keyboard to read each day.
- Pressing Submit twice on your application, or sending an appeal from two tabs, no longer shows an error page.
- Long notes, stories and answers with lots of line breaks are no longer cut short when you save them.
- When you set your time zone, your own zone is now first in the list.
- A link to a character that doesn’t exist now says the character can’t be found.
- A news post opens as soon as it’s published, and the front page shows it right away. If you opened its link a moment too early, it could keep saying it wasn’t found for up to a minute.
- A broken link to a news post or an event now shows the not-found page instead of an error.
- A link with a stray % or a broken ending no longer opens an error page.
- Searching sprouts, the news or your tickets from an unusual link no longer shows an error page.
- When you file a report, unticking a rule now takes it off the report.
- Pinned messages now show as pins in ticket and case transcripts, not as replies.
- A temporary ban that runs out during a suspension no longer keeps you off the whitelist afterward.
- An old character picker can no longer add you to a courtship that’s full, canceled or already running.
- Pressing Start courtship on an old post no longer restarts the courtship’s timer.
- Pressing a gender button twice no longer rolls an egg’s skins twice.
- If your ticket’s channel is deleted, the ticket now closes and you get the usual closing message. It used to stay open, which stopped you from opening a new ticket of that kind.
- Wherever the site asks you to open a ticket, it now links to the ticket panel in Discord. Your tickets has a button for it at the top too.
- Signing in from a private sprout page now brings you back to that page.
- The appeal link on your dashboard now opens the form with your penalty already picked.
- You now edit a character in one place, and retiring one no longer asks first. Your characters list opens the character’s page or its edit page. Retiring keeps everything, and Restore brings it back.
- Appeals is now called Your appeals, in the menu and on the page. Withdrawing an appeal now asks first, so you can still keep it.
- See all, the page preview links and the picture buttons are now big enough to tap on a phone. The menu on your phone also has one way to your dashboard now, not two.
- Making a character with /createcharacter now gives you a button to its new page. /character list has a button to your page as well.
- /status now points you to the ticket channel when nothing is down.
- /whereami now tells you to join the server on a character, instead of only saying to log in.
- Your application answers are no longer wiped when the site asks you to fix something. A missing digit in your Alderon ID used to cost you every answer. They now stay in your tab until you send them.
- After you send an application, the page no longer also says you can’t apply.
- A question that needs a longer answer now says how long before you start typing.
- If you’re not on the registry yet, your dashboard now shows how to apply, or where your application is. It also greets you by your display name now, the same one as in the menu.
- The menu on your phone no longer slides sideways.
- The apply link on the sign-in page no longer sends you straight back to sign in.
- Signed out on a sprout page? The comments now show a link to sign in and write one.
- The status page now counts the parts that are down when there are three or more, so the headline fits on a phone. The left end of each bar now says 90 days ago instead of 0 days ago.
- The search on the documentation page no longer covers the list of commands on a phone.
- The events calendar only offers Back to this month when you’re looking at another month.
- Changelog posts no longer each end with the same link to the other tab. The tabs of the version history also lost their stray scroll bar.
- A closed ticket’s transcript now has a link back to your tickets.
- Statuses such as Under review now read the same way on every page.
- Fixed a few small things on your page: the no-address note shows once, and a character without a family no longer offers to save its tree as a picture.
- A link can no longer put a fake notice at the top of a page.
- Buttons for things you can’t undo now wait until the page has fully loaded.
- An event in a stage channel now shows up in Discord.
- The in-game count on the front page now says it comes from the game server.
- The Refresh button on live pages is now big enough to tap on a phone.
- Live pages no longer check for updates more often each time you come back to the tab.
- The age question now writes 13 the same way everywhere.
- The link in the What’s new window now says it opens the full post.
- Two or more bad days in a row on the status page are now one line of their color, not a row of dots.
- Days before the status page started checking are now a thin line, so the days it measured stand out.
- The status banner no longer sits on the line under the tabs.
- A day on the status page with more than one incident lists them under one heading.
Your page and pictures
- Thumbnails and small pictures now load a smaller copy, so pages with many pictures open faster on a phone.
- The RWR ID, Discord ID and Alderon ID on a sprout page stay on one line. They used to break over two lines until you copied one.
- The page editor only offers to save once you have changed something.
- A page set to Sprouts now only opens for people in the Rosa Discord server. Signing in with any Discord account used to be enough to read it.
- You can now upload an animated PNG or WebP up to 25 MB, the same as a GIF.
- Hiding a picture, or making a character’s pictures private, now takes it off the public web as well.
- Pages set to only you no longer show up for search engines.
- Copying the line that places a picture now works in every browser, and the line stays until you hide it.
- A picture that can’t load now shows a plain note instead of a broken image.
- A clean picture is less likely to be turned away by mistake when you upload it. The automatic check now looks closer, and only refuses a picture when two separate checks agree.
Characters, nests and courtship
- Joining a nest no longer makes you the genetic forerunner without asking. Before, the first parent to join became that parent by default. Now you’re asked, and only on species that have one.
- A genetics roll now names every skin each parent passed to your hatchling. It used to name only one skin per parent, even when your hatchling got four.
- The picture you add to a nest post now stays on it, instead of disappearing after about 12 hours.
- An egg now has to be rolled before you can register it, and Rosa shows you the buttons for the next step.
- Leaving an egg in another species’ nest now follows every nest rule, even from a picker you opened earlier.
- A courtship no longer stays on hold when two partners accept a new partner at the same moment.
- Rerolling a giveaway never picks a winner who was already replaced, and nobody gets paid twice.
- Taking an egg back at the same moment it’s registered no longer leaves the egg in a broken state.
- A retired or dead character now leaves its courtships and open nests, and can’t be picked for new ones.
- A parent can no longer leave a nest at the same moment someone takes an egg from it.
- Two people joining a courtship at once can no longer overfill it or add a second character for one member.
- Rerolling an egg that was just registered no longer changes its skins afterward.
- Saving carried skins twice in quick succession no longer drops some of them.
- Searching for one of your own characters in the family tree now finds it, even when many other characters match.
- Close family can no longer court or nest together, and Rosa tells you how you’re related.
Reports, penalties and appeals
- An appeal is no longer decided by the staff member who gave the penalty or investigated the case.
- Penalty names such as “Temporary ban” now read the same in the bots, on the site and on the game server.
- An in-game ban now comes off when it ends or is overturned, even if part of it didn’t go through, and an ending ban no longer lifts another ban that still applies.
- A temporary ban that has already ended is never sent to the game server, and a ban that waited in the queue only lasts the time it had left.
- When a case closes, your report channel only says you got a link if the direct message arrived.
- Sending your side of a report twice no longer posts it twice.
Tickets
- Your tickets and their transcripts are now kept for good. They used to be deleted two years after closing. The privacy statement has been updated to match.
- The message about your closed ticket no longer shows an extra colon before the reason. The reason now has its own block, and the links are in the buttons below it.
- An escalated ticket can now only be read by the key holders and the member who opened it. It moves to the key holders' own category, and the rest of the team no longer sees it.
- Tickets set to close on a timer no longer stop closing when saving a transcript stalls.
- A picture in a transcript that doesn’t load now shows a short note instead of a large empty space.
- Profile pictures in a transcript show again after somebody changes theirs, and nobody shows as “unknown” anymore.
- An uploaded video in a ticket now shows a note that it wasn’t stored, and a YouTube link plays right in the transcript.
- Edits, deletions, reactions and pins made while Rosa was offline now show up in the transcript too.
- Messages written in a thread under a ticket or report room are no longer missing from the transcript. They show right under the message the thread started from.
- You can now cancel a timed close you set on your own ticket.
- Pressing a ticket button during an update no longer opens two tickets.
In the game
- The bots now see every player on a busy server, so long player lists and map views are no longer cut off.
- Playtime after a game crash no longer counts past its limit.
- If you leave the server during a suspension and come back within a day, you’re back on the whitelist.
- One whitelist change the game server keeps refusing no longer holds up everybody else’s.
- In-game commands like !hunger answer again, and the game log channels fill again, after a couple of quiet hours on October 23.
- A kick or ban message in game now shows the reason on its own line, with the server name below it.
Discord and the bots
- The shop no longer charges you for an in-game item when you are not on the server to receive it.
- Pressing Enter twice on a giveaway no longer takes you back out of it.
- An old courtship post can no longer pull a finished courtship back to waiting.
- The status page now shows a bot as down when it has lost its connection to Discord.
- A gift code from staff now arrives with the code on its own line and the reason set apart. What it gives and when it expires sit side by side, like a growth code.
- A changelog post in Discord now keeps up when the post on the site gains items. The list and the count of more things in the full post stay the same as on the site.
- Gift codes work with or without dashes, spaces and capitals, so you can paste one straight from Discord.
- A reward from staff now comes with a direct message saying what you got and why.
- Your supporter role can no longer be taken away by mistake when the nightly Patreon check runs twice.
- Picking an item in /shop now shows its price first, and buys it only when you press Buy.
- Typing into a command you can’t use no longer suggests other members’ characters.
- A suggestion’s picture now stays on its post.
- A new bug report now gets one format note, not two.
- Changelog posts no longer go out twice in Discord.
- Running /verify twice at once no longer ends in an error.
- The message about a locked account now names the Talk to a Team Member ticket to open.
- The message about a locked account now has space between its parts, so it's easier to read.
- The honeypot channel no longer shows a "pinned a message" line under the explanation.
Voice and Relay
- Rosa Relay now says once that it’s skipping messages, not once per message.
