Every error and maintenance screen has been redrawn
New
Inspector Spino looks for pages that are missing
A link that leads nowhere now shows a hand-drawn detective on the trail, with a way back to the Reserve and your dashboard.
New
Planned maintenance shows a construction crew at work
When part of the site is closed for maintenance, you see two dinosaurs in hard hats, when the work started, when it should be back, and every update staff have posted.
New
Every error screen now looks like the Reserve
A page that fails to load, a part of the site that stops working and the whole site failing all share one calm look, and each says what happened in its own words.
Fixed
A closed part of the site keeps the menu and footer
The screen for a closed part of the site now has the menu at the top and the footer at the bottom, so the rest of the site stays one press away.
The daily draw rules are clearer, and the header has one link fewer
Fixed
The daily draw rules say your page setting counts for characters
A character only goes into the front page draw when your sprout page is set to Anyone with the link. The rules under Today’s profiles now list that for both kinds of page instead of for sprout pages alone.
Fixed
The header no longer has a second link to the roster
On the front page, the header and the section bar both jumped to the roster. The section bar and the footer still take you there.
The Versions page has the same title, short description and row of tabs as the changelog and the patch notes, so the tabs stay in the same place as you switch between them.
Changelog posts and patch notes are easier to scan
Notices
Changelog posts and patch notes are easier to scan
Changelog posts group new features under a few themed headings, each with a bold first sentence. Patch notes open with the month’s highlights, then list every fix by area.
Notices
The patch notes list every fix of the month
The August and September patch notes now cover every fix you could notice, several hundred in all, instead of a short selection.
Notices
Versions is now a tab next to Changelog and Patch notes
The exact version history sits in the same row of tabs as the changelog and the patch notes, on all three pages, so you can move between them both ways.
Shorter text across the site, and the changelog told from the very start
Community
The website gets to the point faster
Page titles, descriptions and hints are shorter, and long paragraphs are split up or cut to what you need to know.
Notices
The changelog now starts where the Reserve began
Changelog posts and patch notes now go back to April, when the first Rosa bot and website went up, and the ticket system in May. Every post is shorter and easier to read.
Notices
The version history is easier to follow
Every line in the version history was rewritten to say plainly what changed for you.
A changelog with posts, monthly patch notes and a What’s new window
Notices
The changelog is now written as posts, with patch notes every month
The changelog now has two lists: posts about new features, and patch notes that round up each month's fixes once the month is over. The exact version history is still one link away.
New
A What’s new window shows the latest changes when you come back
The first time you open the site after a new changelog post goes out, a small window lists its highlights, with a link to the whole post. It shows once per post in each browser.
Community
We've rewritten the website's wording to be clearer
Buttons, empty pages, errors and confirmations now say plainly what happens and what to do next. Rules, penalties and privacy wording mean the same as before.
You can check on a status page whether the Reserve is working
New
A status page shows whether the Reserve is working
Visit rosarealism.com/status or status.rosarealism.com to see if the website, the bots and Discord messages are working, and how each did over the last 90 days.
New
You can follow an outage on the status page
Every incident and planned maintenance has its own place on the status page, with each update in order. The post about it in Discord links there.
Fixed
The status page stays open while the site is closed for maintenance
When the whole site is closed, the status page still opens, so you can read what is going on and when it ends.
Public pages open faster, and only members of the server can comment
New
Public pages open faster when you're not signed in
The front page, news, events, policies, documentation, the changelog and the sprouts list now open without waiting on the server.
Community
Only members of the Discord server can write comments
You need to be in the Rosa Discord server to comment on sprout and character pages. Everyone else sees a note saying so.
Privacy
Email requests about your data are confirmed by signing in
Ask by email for a copy of your data or for it to be deleted, and staff send you a link. You sign in with Discord to confirm, so nobody can ask in your name, even if you've left the server.
Privacy
Old versions of your page text are deleted after 90 days
When you change the text on your page, the old version is deleted after 90 days. Closed emails to legal@rosarealism.com are deleted after a year, and command logs after 30 days.
Fixed
Animated pictures can have up to 300 frames
An animated picture may now have at most 300 frames and 50 million pixels in total. Pictures that are already on the site are not affected.
Private pictures stay private, sign-in keys are not kept, and staff actions check rank
Privacy
Pictures you marked private stay out of family trees
Family trees no longer show pictures their owner marked private, or pictures of a character whose page is suspended.
Privacy
The site no longer stores your Discord sign-in key
When you sign in with Discord, the site uses the key Discord gives it once and doesn't save it. Keys saved before this change are deleted within a day.
Privacy
Deleting a character also takes its pictures off the site
When a character is deleted, its approved pictures are taken off the site at the same time.
Privacy
A copy of your data includes what the game server recorded about you
The copy now lists the game server events tied to your Alderon ID, such as your logins and deaths.
A copy of your data opens on a page in plain words, and deleting your data removes everything you made
New
A copy of your data opens on its own page in plain words
The link to your data copy opens a page that explains every record in plain English, section by section. You can download or print it, and the file uses the same plain words.
New
A copy of your data leaves other people out
If a record is also about someone else, like a report another member filed about you, they're only named where you already saw their name. Staff who made a decision about you are named.
Fixed
Deleting your data now removes everything you made
Your pictures, earlier versions of what you wrote, your birthday, your playtime and any copy of your data are now deleted too. A character in someone else's family tree shows as deleted, so their tree stays whole.
Staff are told when a page has words the zero tolerance policy bans
New
The privacy statement says how page text is checked
What you write where others can read it is checked for words the zero tolerance policy bans, and matches are shown to staff. Nothing is changed or hidden, and your private character notes aren't checked.
The characters and sprouts on the front page used to change once a week, on Monday. A new random pick is now made every day at midnight UTC, and no page is picked two days in a row.
New
A countdown shows when the next profiles are drawn
Under the profiles heading on the front page, a line counts down the hours and minutes to the next draw. When it reaches zero, the page shows the new profiles without a reload.
New
The front page explains how pages get picked for the daily draw
Open "What a page needs to be in the daily draw" under the profiles heading to see the rules for character and sprout pages, with links to edit yours. Meeting them gives your page a chance, not a promise.
Pictures load much faster, and animations are sent as smaller WebP files
Fixed
Pictures on the site load much faster
Pictures used to load at full size, often as a large PNG. Each one now has smaller copies, and a page loads the size it shows, so a page of cards loads about thirty times less.
New
Animated pictures now load as smaller files
Animated pictures are now turned into smaller animated copies with every frame kept, instead of sending the full GIF to everyone who opens the page.

Success messages show as a small note in the corner
New
Success messages now show as a small note in the corner
When something works, like saving your page, a small note appears in the bottom right corner, or along the bottom on a phone, and closes by itself. Problems still show next to the form.
The front page address no longer grows with every section button
Fixed
The front page address no longer grows with each section button
Pressing buttons in the row at the top of the front page used to stack up the address, such as /#profiles#seasons#lore. The address now names only the section you went to.
Weekly profiles need a picture, and the front page menu no longer looks cut off
Community
Only pages with a picture are picked for this week’s profiles
A character needs at least one approved picture that its owner shows to everybody, and a sprout page needs a banner. The cards on the front page are built around that picture.
Fixed
The section buttons at the top of the front page no longer look cut off
The row of buttons only fades at an end when there are more buttons that way. On a wide screen, where all of them fit, the first and the last button are no longer faded.
Staff can see every change to what a member wrote, as a diff
Fixed
The save button under a character story says what it saves
The button under the story of a character now reads Save the story, and the one under your private notes reads Save your notes. Both used to say Save notes.
Characters get an age, a cause of death and updates on how they are doing
Characters
You can post updates on how your character is doing
On the page where you edit a character, pick what happened, such as an injury, an infection, hunger or growing up, and how bad it is. The character page shows the newest update first, with your note and a line from the Reserve under it.
Characters
You can give each character an age
Pick an age from Hatchling to Elderly. It shows on the character page and on the character card. Posting a growth update sets the age for you.
Characters
A character that died can show how it died
Pick a cause of death, such as predation, infection or old age, when you edit a character that died. It shows on the character page and on the character card.
The front page shows a weekly random pick of member profiles
Community
The front page shows a new pick of member profiles every week
Every Monday, three herbivores, three carnivores and three sprouts are picked at random. Only public pages are picked, every page has the same chance, and none is picked two weeks in a row.
A search box above the news finds every edition that mentions a word, in its title, its summary or its text.
New
You can see the news as a grid of pictures
Press Grid above the news to see the editions as cards with their cover on top, three to a row on a computer. The page remembers your choice for your next visit.

Saving a family tree picture shows its progress and names the file
Fixed
Saving a family tree picture now shows its progress
The button says it's drawing the picture, and a note in the corner shows about how long is left. It tells you when the picture is saved, or why it couldn't be.
Fixed
A saved family tree picture is named after the character
The file is saved under the name of the character followed by "family tree", instead of a string of letters and numbers.
Fixed
Large family tree pictures are drawn much faster
A family of four generations used to take about fifteen seconds to draw. It now takes a few seconds.
Clearer news and events buttons on the front page, and tidy ticket settings
New
The news and events buttons on the front page are easy to find
The front page news and events sections now have a button with an icon beside the heading. If there's no news or no upcoming event, that half says so and links to the page.
Family trees connect properly on the site, in the saved picture and in Discord
Characters
Family tree lines now connect where they should
The line between two parents crosses the middle of both cards, and the line to their young starts exactly between them. Each young hangs from one shared line by a short drop to the middle of its card.
Characters
A parent who married in brings their own parents into the tree
The parents of someone who married into a family now stand above them in the same tree, instead of in a separate tree with that parent drawn twice.
Characters
The saved picture and the Discord picture match the page
Saving a family tree and the /familytree command draw the same tree as the character page, with the title "family tree".
Characters
Wide family trees open centered on your character
When a tree is wider than the screen, it scrolls to the character the page is about, and the rest is one swipe away.
Delete your own character, and deleted characters stay in family trees
Characters
You can delete a character you just made
For ten minutes after you make a character, you can delete it yourself from your characters page. That covers a typo or a character made twice.
Characters
You can delete a character that nobody else is linked to
A character with no family, courtship or nest can be deleted by you at any time. When other members are linked to it, the delete button says so and points you to a ticket.
Characters
A character page calls its family section Family tree
The tab and the heading on a character page used to say "Their line". They now say "Family tree", the same name the Discord command uses.
Characters
A deleted character keeps its place in family trees
When staff delete a character that is part of a family, it shows as "Deleted character" in the tree. Its children keep both parents, and nothing else of it is shown.
The changelog, news and your tickets and appeals show page numbers
New
The changelog shows twelve releases per page
Page numbers under the changelog go to older releases. A search still looks through every release and shows the matches together.
New
Older news editions are on numbered pages
The news page shows the newest editions first, and page numbers under the list go to earlier ones.
Tickets
Your tickets and appeals show fifteen per page
Your ticket list and your appeals now have page numbers instead of stopping after a set number. The ticket search looks through every ticket you can read.
Pick three favorite characters for your page, and a tidier header on phones
Characters
You can pick three favorite characters for your page
Press the star on a character on your own page to make it a favorite. Your favorites show first, in the order you picked them, and the rest are behind "Show more characters".
Fixed
The header on a phone sits right under the status bar
On an iPhone, a strip of the page used to show between the clock and the header as you scrolled. The header now reaches the top, is a bit shorter, and has the theme button next to the menu.
Fixed
The dark theme no longer shows a bright line above the header
The thin white line along the top of the header is meant for the light theme. In the dark theme it showed as a bright stripe, and it's now barely visible there.
A character page shows the same background as its owner's page
Characters
A character page shows the same background as its owner's page
The background picture or scene a member chose for their page now also shows behind each of their character pages. Before, a character page used their colors on a plain background.
The cover of an edition showed again after the last update, but most pictures inside an edition stayed blank. They all show now, and so do evidence pictures and other files staff open on the site.
Birthdays are celebrated properly, pictures open in a viewer, and news pictures show again
Community
Your birthday is celebrated across the whole site
On your birthday, a line on every page wishes you a happy birthday, your dashboard opens with a birthday card, and Rosa messages you in Discord. Only team birthdays are stored, and only the team sees them.
Fixed
News pictures show again
The pictures on the news list and in every edition were blank after the files moved to the new storage. They show again.
New
Pictures open in a viewer on the page instead of a new tab
Pressing a picture in an email, on an appeal, in a report or in the picture queue opens it large on the page, and the arrow keys move to the next one. Before, each picture opened in a tab of its own.
Fixed
The button to edit your page looks like a button
At the top of your own page and your own character pages, the link to change them is now a button in a bar of its own. The link staff use to open a member on the staff screen is a button too.
Community
New members show on the sprouts list as soon as they're registered
A member added to the registry gets their page address right away, so they're on the sprouts list at once instead of after first opening their page.
Checkboxes, choices and sliders have their own look, and the command settings read as one table
New
Checkboxes, choices and sliders have their own look
Every checkbox, choice button and slider now uses the site colors with a clear check mark, in both light and dark themes. Number fields no longer show the small up and down arrows.
Fixed
New pages start out open to anyone with the link
The page visibility setting said a new page is hidden from everyone. Since every sprout now gets a page, it actually starts open to anyone with the link, and the setting now says so.
Every page of your account has the same width and the same tabs
New
Every page of your account has the same width and the same tabs
The dashboard, your page, your characters and your tickets are now as wide as the top bar, with the same four tabs at the top of each. Before, each page had its own width, so the content jumped when you moved between them.
Fixed
The site uses more of a wide screen
The top bar, the footer, the front page and the pages with lists and forms, such as the sprouts, events, appeals and documentation, are wider on a large screen. News articles and policies stay narrow, because long lines of text are hard to read.
Fixed
The account menu names the dashboard and your page
The entry that opened the dashboard was called Your profile. The menu now says Dashboard, and a new entry, Your page, opens the editor for your own page.
Every sprout on the registry has a page, a ban stops you from changing what other people see, and every link and button looks like a control
Community
Every sprout on the registry now has a page
The sprouts list shows every member on the registry and everyone with a character. An empty page shows the registry facts, the characters and their family trees, and anyone can open it.
Moderation
A ban stops you from changing what other people see
While you're banned, your page, characters, pictures and family trees stay up, but you can't change them on the site or through the bots. Every form and command says so and names the day the ban ends.
Fixed
Every link and button looks like something you can press
Back links, links between pages and small actions like stopping an upload or removing a file are now clear buttons or underlined links. Every one is big enough to press on a phone.
Community
The Habitat Inspector badge has a new picture
The badge next to a Habitat Inspector on the staff list and on their page now shows a purple net instead of a pink outline.
Ask for a copy of your data by email, and staff can make that copy as one file with a link that works for fourteen days
Privacy
You can ask by email for a copy of your data
The privacy notice now says to email legal@rosarealism.com to use any of your rights, instead of opening a ticket. Your copy comes as a link to one file with every record about you, valid for fourteen days.
Moving to another page of a list stays on that page
Fixed
Page numbers on lists no longer jump back to page 1
Pressing Next or a page number on the sprouts list, the staff log, penalties or reports used to open that page and then jump back to the first one. The list now stays on the page you picked.
0.346.1 to 0.346.2 · 2 releases with no visible changes
The front page answers the questions people ask, the top bar keeps your name while you move between pages, and search engines are pointed at the right addresses
New
The front page answers the questions people ask before they apply
Under Applying, a list answers common questions: how to get in, whether the server is open, which map it uses, where the mods are, and what realism means here. The answers stay current, including whether applications are open.
Fixed
Your name and picture stay in the top bar while you move between pages
Moving between pages used to blank your name and picture in the top bar for a moment, which looked like being signed out. The bar now keeps them until the next page has loaded.
Fixed
The section bar on the front page shows where you are
The bar under the top bar highlights the section you're looking at as you scroll. Its scrollbar is gone, and on a phone the apply button just says Apply so it fits.
New
You can add the site to your phone's home screen with its own icon
Adding rosarealism.com to your phone's home screen now gives it the Reserve name, logo and olive color, instead of a page title and a screenshot.
Fixed
Search engines now find the right address for every page
Links with a search or a page number no longer count as copies of the front page. Pages that need a sign in are left out of search results.
Several pictures at once with drag and drop, clips as links, and the staff and settings screens reviewed page by page
New
You can upload several pictures at once
Pick, drop or paste as many pictures as you have room for, caption each one, and send them together. Each shows its own progress, and one that fails says why while the rest keep going.
New
Every upload area takes a dropped file or a pasted screenshot
Every upload area works the same way: press the button, drop a file on it, or click it and paste. It tells you which files it takes and how large they can be.
Fixed
Pictures that are too large are shrunk before they're sent
A still picture over the size limit is resized in your browser, and you're told when that happens. Animations are never resized, because they'd lose their movement.
Moderation
Clips on an appeal are now shared as links
Upload screenshots as files, and put clips on YouTube, Medal or Streamable and paste the link. The clip stays watchable and your appeal sends faster.
Uploads go straight to storage, larger pictures are accepted, and approved pictures load faster
New
Uploads now go straight to storage
Your browser sends the file straight to storage, and the site checks what arrived. The progress bar shows the real upload, and large files no longer wait in the middle.
New
Pictures up to 15 MB and animations up to 25 MB are accepted
Still pictures can be up to 15 MB and 8192 pixels on a side, so artwork fits at full size. Animations, documents and clips can be up to 25 MB, and anything larger is refused before it's sent.
New
Approved pictures load at the size a page needs
Every approved picture is saved at three sizes, and each page loads the one it shows. The original is saved untouched and never enlarged.
Privacy
Taken-down pictures leave the site at once and are deleted after thirty days
A picture that's taken down or turned down disappears from the site right away. The original is saved for thirty days in case the decision is reviewed, and then deleted.
Fixed
Picking many evidence files at once no longer fails
Files are now sent one at a time, so the last ones in a big batch are no longer refused for going too fast.
Pages say the same thing the same way, and a few of them explain themselves better
Community
A sprout page with nothing written on it no longer opens on empty space
On a sprout page with no writing yet, the facts now run across the page in a row, with the characters right below.
Community
The button for leaving a reaction says what it does
On a page with no reactions yet, the plus sign now has the words "Leave a reaction" beside it. It used to stand alone.
Community
The list of sprouts says how many characters each one plays
Each card in the list shows the number of characters that sprout has in play, next to their in-game name.
Characters
Empty character pages point the owner to the edit page
The empty picture frame has an "Add a picture" button, and the missing story links to the edit page. Both used to point at Discord or at "your dashboard".
New
A character is "In play", "Retired" or "Died" on every page
The dashboard, the character list, the character page and the cards on a sprout page used four different spellings for the same three states. They now use the same words, with a dot beside each.
New
Status labels start with a capital letter
Labels like "Still open", "Closed", "Escalated", "Any member" and "Switched off" now start with a capital letter on transcripts, cases and the documentation page.
New
Choosing files now uses a clear button that counts your files
Appeals and reports show a Choose files button and a line saying how many files you picked. The browser's own text next to it used to get cut off on phones.
New
The appeal form asks its questions in plain words
The first field is "Which penalty this is about", the reasons are under "Why you think the decision was wrong", and the writing box is "What the decision missed or got wrong".
Fixed
The dashboard no longer says the game server is closed
The tile said "Closed" when it meant you were not on the whitelist yet. It now says "Game server access: Not yet" or "Yes".
Fixed
The four dashboard figures sit in one row on a tablet
On a tablet, the four figures now share one row. The fourth used to sit on its own row below the others.
Fixed
The Make your page button only shows once it works
The dashboard showed a Make your page button before staff had set your in-game name, and the editor then refused. The button now waits until your page has an address.
Fixed
The page editor links to the application form
If you haven't applied yet, the page editor used to send you to a Discord command. It now links to the application form on this site.
Fixed
The list of sprouts is called the same thing everywhere
The page was titled "Members" while the menu, the footer and the breadcrumbs said "Sprouts". It is "Sprouts" throughout now.
Fixed
Small wording fixes on the policies, events and legal pages
Notes and links on the policies, events, terms and privacy pages were reworded to point to the right place. A character's Mutation/Condition fact now reads Mutation or condition.
Fixed
The section links on the home page are named after their sections
The bar under the figures now says "Lore", "Our mods" and "Status" where it said "Write yourself in", "Built in-house" and "Where we are".
The documentation and the changelog are shorter to read, and your characters are in the account menu
New
Your characters are one press away from any page
The account menu at the top right has an entry for your characters, between your profile and the application form. The menu on a phone has the same entry under Your account.
New
The documentation shows one line per command
Each command is a closed line with its name, who can run it and what it does. Press it to see options, an example and notes, and a search opens every matching command.
New
The changelog opens on the newest releases
The twelve newest releases show when the page opens, and older ones are behind one button that says how many there are. Search still covers every release.
Fixed
Each dashboard list has one See all button
The characters and tickets lists on your dashboard each have a See all button beside the heading, showing how many items there are. The extra buttons are gone.
Fixed
The evidence field on an appeal names one size limit
The field said 25 MB in one line and 40 MB in the next. It now names the 40 MB limit once, and a limit is written without a decimal.
Fixed
The account menu works with the keyboard
Opening the menu puts focus on the first entry, and the arrow keys, Home and End move between entries. Escape closes it and returns focus to the button, and the page you're on is marked.
Your dashboard shows your newest characters and tickets
Characters
Your characters have a page of their own
The page lists every character you play, ten at a time. Search by name, species or skin, show only those in play or retired, and open any character to change it.
Characters
The search box for your characters is always there
The search box used to appear only once you had six characters or more, so most members never saw it. It is now at the top of the characters page for everybody.
New
Your dashboard shows your three newest characters and tickets
Each list has a View more button that opens the full page, where you can search and change everything. The heading of each list is a button that opens the same page.
New
You can switch between your dashboard, characters and tickets in one press
A row of buttons at the top of those three pages shows which one you are on and takes you to the other two.
Fixed
Saving a character brings you back to where you were in the list
Renaming, retiring or changing who may read about a character now returns you to the same search and page number, with a message about what was saved.
Your characters are easier to find and easier to change
Characters
You can search your characters by name or species
Your list on your account page is one line per character now, with a search box above it. Type part of a name or species to narrow the list, or show only retired characters or those in play.
Characters
Each character now has its own edit page
Open one of your characters to add pictures, write their story, choose who can read it, keep private notes, or rename or retire them. Everything from your account page is there too.
Characters
You choose which picture of a character comes first
Any approved picture can go first. It's the large picture at the top of the character page and the one shown when someone shares a link to the character.
Fixed
The open tickets figure now always opens your tickets
The tile used to do nothing when you had no open tickets, which is exactly when you'd look for a closed one.

The Reserve now has Habitat Inspectors
Habitat Inspectors test new features and updates to make sure they work before they go out. The job has its own emblem and shows on a profile like every other job.
Rosa Relay is the new bot that reads the chat aloud in a voice channel and writes what is said there back into a channel. Its releases are listed alongside the other four bots and the site.
Every release is announced in the changelog channel on its own
Notices
Every release is now posted in the changelog channel automatically
Releases used to be posted only when someone pressed a button, and ten piled up unannounced in one day. Each release is now posted as soon as it goes live.
Part of the site can be closed, and you are told why
New
Closed pages now say why instead of failing
When something is broken or being worked on, the page it affects shows what's wrong, the latest updates and where to follow along. Before, the page just failed or acted up.
New
Planned work is announced before it starts
Maintenance is posted in Discord with the times it runs between, and nothing is closed until the start time passes. The times are shown in your own time zone.
New
You can follow an outage in a thread
Every post about a problem has a thread. Press the button on the post to join it and get each update without watching the channel.
New
Typing /status tells you whether anything is down
The /status command lists what's down right now, what it affects on the website and the latest update on each. When everything works, it says so.
The lockout screen used to say the account was blocked, a word used nowhere else. It now names the blacklist and gives the address to write to.
Fixed
The age screen says what you answered
The heading used to read "This account is closed" without saying why. It now says you answered that you're under thirteen, with a way to change your answer.
Fixed
Twenty sentences across the site were rewritten in plainer words
Unclear hints on the settings and game server screens were reworded, and the word "simply" was cut from eleven places where it added nothing.
The header, the footer and selected buttons are drawn correctly again
Fixed
A selected button shows its label again
Selected tabs and filters looked empty because their label was the same green as the button. Labels on filled buttons are readable again.
Fixed
The header and the footer reach the edges of the window again
The header and the footer were pushed in from the sides, leaving an empty band down each edge. They now reach the edges again.
Fixed
Your avatar and name stay in the header while a page loads
Moving between pages threw the header away and built it again, so the avatar and the name disappeared for a moment and the row jumped as they came back.
Fixed
A sprout page keeps the background and the layout it was given
A page a sprout had designed was drawn inside a second copy of its own frame, which reset the background and moved everything on it.
A long job runs in the corner instead of holding the screen
New
A note in the corner says how many files are still going up
On a long form, the file rows scroll out of sight while uploading. A note in the corner shows how many files are left, and the tab asks before closing while they're still going.
A picture in a transcript opens on the page instead of in a new tab
A picture now opens over the page, and the arrow keys move through every picture in the ticket. A middle click or right click still opens the file itself.

Copy a transcript link with one press
A button at the top of a transcript copies its link, so you don't have to select it from the address bar.
Fixed
Everyone is called by the same name on every screen
The list of people in a ticket used account names while the rest of the page used nicknames, so someone could show up twice. Every screen now uses your nickname, or your account name if you haven't set one.
Better pages when something goes wrong, and the site says when a page is coming
New
A bar at the top shows when a page is loading
A bar runs across the top of the window while the next page loads, and in the staff area the menu entry you pressed is marked. Before, nothing showed after you pressed a link.
Fixed
Error pages now look like part of the Reserve
The pages for a missing address, a page that failed to load and the whole site failing now share one look, with artwork instead of a sentence on a blank page.
The site is built ahead of time instead of on every visit
Fixed
Pages open faster
Most of the site is now prepared in advance, with only the parts about you filled in when you visit. The front page, the changelog, the documentation and the policies open without waiting.
Your tickets have a search that answers while you type
Tickets
You can search your own tickets
Type a ticket number, a kind of ticket, or why one was closed, and the list narrows as you type. It searches every ticket you can read, including the ones not on screen and the ones already closed.
Tickets
Your five newest tickets show first, with the rest one press away
The list used to show five tickets a page with Newer and Older buttons, so finding an old ticket meant a lot of pressing.

Everybody is asked once whether they are thirteen or older
New
You are asked your age once, when you sign in
Discord and the Reserve both require you to be at least thirteen. The question shows over the site until you answer it, including over the application form.
New
You can change your answer if you said no by mistake
Saying you're under thirteen closes the account, but the screen that says so has a button to change your answer. A wrong press won't cost you your account.
0.307.2 to 0.308.0 · 2 releases with no visible changes
The editor used to call it "a band across the top" in its heading and help text, then "banner" on the button. It's a banner everywhere now, for screen readers too.
Fixed
The error pages say what failed
The error pages used to say something failed on our side. They now say whether the page or the whole site failed to load.
The page editor now uses the words banner and background
The picture across the top of your page is the banner, and the picture behind it is the page background. They used to be described in different words in different places.

A reply to us lands in the conversation it belongs to
Fixed
Replying to us keeps you in the same conversation
Replies are now matched to your case by what they answer and the reference in the subject, not just your address. Writing from another address or changing the subject no longer starts a new case.
New
Writing to a case we closed opens a new one and says so
A closed case stays closed as the record of what was decided. Your reply opens a new case, and our answer names both references so you know which to use.
New
You get an email when your case is closed
The email says the case is closed and what to do if you think it closed too early. Before, a finished case just went silent.
Your reference no longer says how many people wrote before you
Privacy
Case references are now random instead of numbered
References used to count up, which showed how much legal email the Reserve had received. They're now eight random characters, without letters that are easy to mix up.
Whatever an email carries is shown where staff read the email
Privacy
What you write to us is no longer copied into Discord
Staff used to get the text of your email in a private Discord message, where we can't delete it later. The alert now only says an email arrived, and staff read it on the site.
The automatic reply says how long an answer will take
Anyone who emails us now gets a reply saying we aim to answer within one calendar month, and usually much sooner. Before, it only said someone would read it eventually.
Fixed
Our emails are now written in everyday English
The automatic reply and our standard replies used to sound stiff and formal. They now say the same things the way a person would.
Fixed
An email from us greets you by name
If we have your name, our emails now open with it. If not, they open with a plain "Hello" instead of "Hello there".
A letter to the Reserve is readable, and the answer looks like it came from us
New
Replies from the Reserve now look like they come from us
Replies used to arrive as bare text, which is hard to tell apart from a scam. They now carry the Reserve's name, colors and case number, plus a plain copy for mail apps without formatting.
You can email a question about the terms or the privacy policy
Both documents now name legal@rosarealism.com. You can still open a ticket in our Discord server, but if you've left the server, email is the way to reach us.
One file failing no longer stops the rest of the upload
New
Every file you attach gets a row of its own
Each file you attach now has its own row with its own progress. If one fails, it says why and lets you send that file again while the others stay attached.
New
You can stop an upload without leaving the page
Every file being sent has a button to stop it. The file stays selected, so you can send it again without picking it from your folders.
New
You can paste a screenshot straight into an upload area
Click an upload area and press Ctrl+V to add a screenshot from your clipboard without saving it first. Dragging a file in still works.
New
Upload areas say what they accept before you pick a file
The file types and size limit are shown under every upload area, instead of appearing as an error after you choose a file.
New
Applying asks you to confirm you're 13 or older
The terms have always said the Reserve is for people 13 and over. The application form now asks you to confirm it, and no date of birth is asked for or stored.
New
The terms say how to report a copyright problem
Some pictures, screenshots and clips on the site were made by someone else. The terms now give an address for copyright owners to write to and say what the email must include.
Fixed
Wording across the whole site is plainer
Every sentence on the site was reread. Sentences now name what they're about, explanations get enough room, and error messages also say what to do next.
Rosa Field Kit is offered at its newest version again
Fixed
The Field Kit download and update check now find the newest version
Both offered 0.9.1 while 0.10.0 was out, so the app never knew about the update. Version numbers are now compared properly instead of trusting the order they arrive in.

A command typed in the game no longer says it failed after it worked
Fixed
In-game commands no longer say they failed after working
Commands like skipping your shed or handing out marks worked, but then whispered that nothing happened. The reply now matches what the game server actually did.
Fixed
A slow game server no longer makes a command look failed
Sometimes the server takes too long to confirm a command it already carried out. You're now told we can't be sure it worked and asked to check in game, instead of being told to type it again.
A command typed in the game says when it did not work
Fixed
In-game commands now tell you when they didn't work
Commands that heal you, move you or hand something out used to give their usual reply even when nothing happened. Now you're told, and staff are told too so they can fix it.

The picture that goes with your link is the page itself
Community
Sharing your page link shows your page's scenery
When someone pastes your link, the preview card now shows the picture behind your page, your colors, your name and your tagline. It used to be a banner strip and a block of color.
A member page carries a fraction of what it used to weigh
Community
Pages with pictures load much faster
Pictures on member pages are now sent at the size they're shown, in a lighter format. One page dropped from 7.5 MB to under 2 MB, which saves most of a second on a phone.
A layout can fade something out, and the way back up stays out of the way
Community
Your layout can now fade things out at the edges
You can now use masks in your stylesheet to fade a picture or text out instead of cutting it off. They follow the usual rule: a gradient or a picture from this site, never a file from elsewhere.
Fixed
The back to top button is just an arrow on phones
On narrow screens, its label covered what you were reading. It's now just the arrow at the same size, and screen readers still hear the label.
A painted page can answer a dead link in its own way
Community
Your layout can style the missing character message
The message that says a character isn't here now has a name your stylesheet can target. You can add your own content there, not just change its colors.
The sound a page can play is the reserve rather than water
Community
The page sound is now wind, water and birds
It plays wind in the trees, distant water, rustling leaves and the odd bird call. It's made in your browser, only starts when you press the button, and never repeats.
A page carries its own card, its own not-found and its own sound
Community
Sharing your page link shows your page, not your avatar
When someone pastes your link, the preview now shows your banner, your colors, your name and your tagline. It used to show your Discord avatar.
Characters
A missing character link now lands on the member's page
A link to a deleted or mistyped character used to show the site's not-found page. It now shows that member's page, in their colors, with links to their other characters.
Community
Your page can now play a soft water sound
You can add a button that plays a soft water sound. Nothing plays on its own, and it costs nothing until someone presses it. Switch it on next to your scenery settings.
Fixed
Pages with custom colors look the same in light and dark
The shade over a backdrop picture, the card shadows, and text boxes and scrollbars used to follow the reader's theme. They now use the page's own colors.
A page can answer to the hour of whoever is reading
Community
Your page can change with the reader's time of day
Your layout can look one way at dawn and another at night, based on the reader's own clock. The page is marked as dawn, day, dusk or night, with the exact hour too.
A page always lists its characters, and a save appears when there is something to save
Characters
Your page always lists your characters now
The option to hide them is gone, because family trees link through each character's page. Each character's own settings still decide whether its story and pictures show.
Fixed
Save only appears once you've changed a character's name
The save button used to show as soon as you opened the row, which made every character look like it had unsaved changes.
A page can be granted something the rest cannot have
Privacy
Stylesheets still can't load files from other sites
Even with pictures allowed, a page can only use pictures written into the stylesheet or served by this site. A file from another site could tell that site who read your page.
New
Pages can now use the Cormorant Garamond font
A font only shows if the reader has it installed. The site now serves Cormorant Garamond itself, so it always works, and your browser doesn't fetch it from another company.
After you confirm something like deleting a character, the dialog stays open with a spinning button until it's done. The cancel button is disabled meanwhile, since it can't stop the action.
The banner preview shows the page rather than a small strip
Fixed
The banner preview now matches your real page
The preview used to be a small strip, so the crop you approved wasn't the crop you got. It now shows the same shape, the same portrait placement and the bottom fade if it's on.
A picture is no longer refused for being the wrong kind of picture
Fixed
Banners are no longer refused as the wrong file type
Some browsers saved the cropped banner in a different format than its name said, so the upload refused it. Exporting again never helped, because the problem was on our side. It's fixed now.
A page shows three characters and folds the rest away
Characters
Your page shows 3 characters and folds the rest away
Members with lots of characters had everything else, including their writing, pushed far down the page. The rest are one press away and stay open once you open them.
Characters
The section on your page now says characters
It said creatures, which isn't the word the rest of the site uses.
A page with scenery behind it uses your own stylesheet
Fixed
Your own background now shows on pages with a backdrop
On pages with a backdrop picture, the site's own panel covered the background you set. It looked right in the preview but not on the page. Now it shows on both.
Fixed
The preview now shows the fade at the bottom of your banner
The fade was on your page but not in the preview, so it was hard to find the setting. It's the "Fade the bottom of the banner into the page" box under Pictures.
Community
Tags, species and gender always show as written
Your page can still set their color, size and font. It can't lowercase a tag or space out its letters anymore, because that made similar tags hard to tell apart.
Fixed
Gender and diet now start with a capital letter
Cards and character pages showed "female" and "herbivore" in lowercase, while every other fact started with a capital.
Linking your Patreon account finds your pledge again
Everyone who linked Patreon showed as not supporting, whatever they pledged, because the site asked Patreon for the wrong thing. Link it again and your pledge will show.
Changes that couldn't be saved no longer look saved
Your dashboard notepad and character boxes said "Saved" even when nothing was saved. Now your text stays in the box and the page tells you what went wrong.
Fixed
Renaming, retiring and deleting characters now explain refusals
A one-letter name, or a character that was already deleted, used to close the dialog and change nothing without a word. Now you see why.
Fixed
Pictures that can't be used no longer say they were removed
Choosing a banner, backdrop or buddy that couldn't be used said the picture was taken off your page, even though nothing changed. Now you see what went wrong.
Fixed
The map now says when the game server didn't answer
It used to say nobody was online, which looked like a quiet server when the server simply didn't respond.
A round of applications can open and close on its own
New
Applications say when the next round opens
If a round is scheduled for Friday, the page now shows the date and time instead of "applications are not open". A round that has ended says when it closed.
0.251.0 to 0.252.0 · 3 releases with no visible changes
The front page, the directory and a sprout page are rebuilt
Fixed
The member directory no longer reloads in the background
The search box kept asking the server for results four times a second while the page was open. You couldn't see it on screen, but it's fixed now.
Fixed
Character pages now show traits instead of code
Traits used to show up as "[object Object]". Now you see the actual traits.
New
You can jump to any part of the front page
A row of links under the figures takes you to any of the nine sections in one press. On a phone, the figures are now two columns instead of one long strip.
Characters
A sprout's page now opens with what you came for
Their characters, pictures and comments are one press from the top. On a wide screen, their details sit beside their writing instead of above it.
Characters
Character pages show the name before the picture
The name, tag, species and status now sit above the artwork, so on a phone you don't scroll past a tall reference sheet first.
Community
A member card no longer cuts off the in-game name
The in-game name, pronouns and local time used to be squeezed into one clipped line, and taglines were cut off. Both wrap now, and screen readers announce the result count as it changes.
It said three Discord applications and then named four. There are four: Rosa Terminal, Rosa Conservatory, Rosa Front Desk and Rosa Wildlife.
Privacy
The privacy notice now explains file uploads clearly
Two paragraphs described the same thing in conflicting ways. A copy of your file is stored in a private channel only staff can see, and we record where, because Discord links expire within a day.
The dashboard, the application and the reading pages are rebuilt
New
Your dashboard is easier to find your way around
Four figures at the top link to what they count, with two columns below. The page is half as tall, and everything is one press away on a phone.
New
Applying now reads as clear, numbered questions
The introduction is one block instead of three cards, each question shows its number out of the total, and the two account fields now have proper labels.
Characters
Your appeals now show above the new appeal form
The form used to be four screens down, under a long explanation of what an appeal isn't.
Characters
Every ticket now shows whether it's open or closed
Only open tickets used to show their state, so a closed one looked like something was missing. Each ticket card also opens with one press.
Events
Upcoming events now show above the calendar
The list shows what's next, and the calendar helps you find a date. The arrows and day marks are also big enough to tap on a phone.
Notices
Newsletters, events and policies now open the same way
Each has a link back to its list and its key facts in one block. A canceled event is marked next to its date instead of in the middle of the text.
The privacy notice and the terms can be read and linked to
Privacy
Both legal pages now have a contents list and section links
The list sits beside the text on a wide screen, folds into one row on a phone, and marks where you are. Each section also has its own link you can share.
Privacy
Legal pages show the version and date under the title
The version used to sit inside the first section, where nobody looks for it.
Fixed
The skip to content link now works on both legal pages
The link that skips past the menu had nowhere to land on those pages. It now takes you straight to the text.
Fixed
The sign in button now comes before the explanation
There were five sentences between you and the only button. The heading, any error and the button now come first.
Characters
Cases and transcripts now lay out their facts the same way
The facts at the top of both are laid out alike, with labels clearly set apart from their values. Each state has a mark as well as a color.
Small print is readable, and a sprout is read one part at a time
Fixed
Hints, timestamps and labels are easier to read
We checked every piece of text on the site and found about six hundred that were too faint. The two lighter text colors are now darker on every background, in both themes.
What you write, who can see it, your pictures and how it looks each have their own screen and their own save button. It used to be one very long screen.
Fixed
Saving one part of your page leaves the rest alone
Saving your writing no longer touches who can see your page, and the other way around. The address remembers which part you're in, so you come back to it after saving.
Characters
The card at the top shows where your page stands
It shows your page's address, who can open it, pictures waiting on staff and comments waiting on you, all above the editor.
Fixed
Deleting your page is now with the visibility settings
It used to be at the bottom of the styling, where nobody looks for it. It now sits with the other settings about who can see your page.
0.242.1 to 0.244.0 · 3 releases with no visible changes
The dashboard card for recording relations and answering requests is gone. Family trees are seen by the whole Reserve, so staff add those links, and the screen names both characters by tag.
Record on the dashboard how your creatures are related to everybody else’s
Characters
Record how two characters are related on your dashboard
Pick one of yours, name the other by its tag, and choose the relation. Two of your own are saved right away. If the other is someone else's, they can accept or decline on their dashboard or in Discord.
Characters
Family trees now show found family
Found family shows beside a character like a sibling does, and is labeled as found family instead of drawn as an adoption.
A saved layout is the whole page, a sharper crop, and the word for a pair
New
Saved layouts now keep your whole look
A layout now saves your colors, shapes, fonts and name style along with your stylesheet. You can also save one with just a name, even if you never wrote a stylesheet.
Fixed
The Use this frame button now works on banners
Pressing it used to save which banner you use but leave the crop alone. Reframing a banner now crops it, like everywhere else.
Fixed
Pictures you crop on the site stay sharp
Banners, newsletter covers and event pictures used to be saved at about 1000 pixels wide, in a format that made dark scenes blocky. They're now saved at up to 2000 pixels in a sharper format.
Fixed
Family trees now say mate instead of partner
On the cards and the shared picture, a character who had young with a son now shows as his mate.
A second picture on a creature page, a wider story, and a clearer family tree
Characters
Character pages can show a second picture
The first picture keeps its uploaded shape. The second sits beside the facts, filling space that used to be empty.
Characters
Character stories now use the full page width
A story used to be as narrow as the picture above it, with empty space beside it all the way down.
Fixed
The line between two mates now looks different from family lines
Both used to be the same thin line, so a mate link looked like a row of young. It's now dashed with a knot in the middle, and all lines are easier to follow.
Characters
Family trees have more room and lighter labels
Cards are bigger, rows are further apart, and each relation is written as text instead of a box. The shape of the tree is easier to follow.
Fixed
Family tree lines from a clutch no longer double up
Each young had its own line running all the way up next to the parents' line, which looked like two connections. Lines now stop at the rail above the young.
Nesting
Young named on a clutch now link to their page
If an egg was claimed before its owner made the character, the name had no link. The name is now matched to the character and opens their page.
A clutch names the young that came out of it, and a line lands on the right card
Nesting
Clutches on a character page now list the young by name
It used to say how many eggs were taken, but not who took them. Each young is now listed by name and opens their page.
Nesting
Clutches say what the character was in one word
Mother, father or offspring, then the species, season and day. The clutch a character hatched from is marked as its origin clutch, with links to the other parents.
Fixed
The line from a clutch now lands on the right young
When a young had a mate, the line came down between them, so the mate looked like a sibling. It now lands on the young itself.
New
Your characters now have a heading and clear buttons
The story, pictures, privacy and notes under each character were plain colored text. They're buttons now, and the section has its own heading like the rest of your dashboard.
New
Retiring a character keeps its place in the family tree
The option used to say retire or delete, but only staff can delete. It now offers only what you can do, and says a retired character stays in every family line.
Family tree cards carry their pictures, and a mate is not called a niece
Fixed
Family tree pictures really show up now
Last time, pictures were prepared correctly but still came out blank. They're now drawn straight into each card.
Fixed
Someone who had young with your son is now named a partner
A mate who joined the family sat where a niece or nephew would, so the tree called them that. They're now named after who they had young with, like daughter's partner or brother's partner.
A family tree drawing shows the pictures on its cards
Fixed
Character pictures are back on family tree cards
Most pictures were in a format the tree couldn't read, so cards showed an empty band. Pictures now show properly, and a character whose picture can't be loaded shows its species.
Pictures on a page are shown the shape they were uploaded
Fixed
Character pictures are no longer cropped to fit a box
Cards and character pages cut every picture to the same shape, so tall sheets lost their head and feet and wide screenshots lost their sides. Now you see the whole picture.
Fixing the field you were asked about and pressing send said required questions were empty. The check now only looks at the fields you were asked to fix.
New
Written answers need to be at least 200 characters
You see this as you type, not after pressing send. A one-word answer wastes your attempt and a reviewer's time.
Being sent back tells you what to change about each answer
New
Each answer you need to fix has its own reason
One reason for the whole application left people guessing which answer it meant. Each reason now sits beside its answer, on the page and in the message.
Notes that stay at the bottom of a channel, and a clearer review queue
Fixed
Long answers show how much room is left
Long answers stop at 4000 characters and short ones at 200. The box used to cut off your text without warning, so you could send a paragraph missing its ending.
Applications, from the form to the word you get back
New
Staff can send your application back instead of declining
Staff can ask you to fix just one answer, and everything else you wrote stays saved. A correction doesn't use up an attempt.
New
You'll hear the decision on your application in Discord
Whether you're accepted, sent back or declined, you're told in a channel with the reason and what to do next. Before, you could be accepted and never hear about it.
New
Application forms can ask more kinds of questions
Forms can now use tick boxes, yes or no, and numbers, alongside multiple choice and written answers. Questions can also have a link and a note.
Fixed
Declining an application now sends the reason
The reason used to go only with an acceptance, so a decline arrived with no reason at all.
Fixed
You can't end up with two applications on one form
Sending one twice quickly could leave two in the queue. Now only one can be waiting at a time.
The front page says applications are open when they are
Fixed
Opening applications now shows the button on the front page
The front page kept saying applications were closed even when staff had opened them. It now checks whether any form is open, including ones staff add themselves.
Secondary text on a painted page is back on phones
Fixed
Your tagline, share button and reaction counts are readable again
On pages with custom colors, some phone browsers couldn't work out the color of quieter text, so it nearly vanished. The color is now worked out before the page is sent.
A role badge is one pill again rather than a pill with a box drawn inside
Fixed
The shine on a role badge follows its rounded shape
Four page looks styled everything in the badge row, so a lighter box showed inside each badge and behind the share button. Now only the badges get the shine.
Text on a page somebody has painted stays readable at night
Fixed
Dark mode no longer makes custom pages unreadable
Some colors on a styled page still came from the site's theme. At night, a comment on a light page showed as dark text on a dark card. Every color on a styled page now comes from that page.
Fixed
Cards in every page look are now solid
Eight looks drew their cards see-through, so scenery behind the page showed through the text. Cards are now solid, so you can read them.
Fixed
The band on your dashboard card no longer covers your picture
On some phones, the band at the top of the card cut the top off your portrait. It no longer sits on top of the picture.
Character tags now read STYRA-001 instead of STY-001
Species codes used to be three or five letters, so lists didn't line up. Every code is now five letters, and existing tags were updated too. Your character is the same, just with a matching tag.
Every picture and clip in an edition of the news, in one gallery
New
A newsletter's gallery now shows all its pictures
The gallery only showed pictures that weren't placed in the text, so some editions had no gallery. It now shows everything, cover first, and clips play right there.
Newsletter covers and character pictures are sharp again
Six pictures on the site were saved at a lower quality than the rest, which showed most on dark screenshots. They now match.
Fixed
Uploaded pictures keep dark scenes clean
Uploads used to turn blocky in the shadows, like a character under trees at night. They're now saved in a sharper format that's also smaller. Pictures already uploaded aren't changed.
Every past edition of the news, a gallery that plays clips, and a tidier footer
New
Every newsletter published so far is on the site
The five editions sent in Discord are now here with their pictures, the date they were posted and who wrote them.
New
Clips in a newsletter play right on the page
The gallery under an edition now includes clips. Each has a play mark, and opening one plays it full size, with the arrow keys still moving through the rest.
Community
Old notices leave the list when a newer edition comes out
A notice is about something to do now, so it drops off the list once a new edition arrives. Its link still works.
Community
The footer is now four short groups
It used to give a third of the width to the name and stack seven links in one tall stack.
A board of queues for staff, searchable settings, and a calendar you can scan
Community
The header now highlights where you are on the front page
The Reserve, Roster and Applying now light up as you scroll past them, like News and Events do on their own pages.
Community
Events now show as a list of dates
Each event starts with the day, then the time, how soon it is, and where. The month bar shows the month first, with arrows and a way back to today beside it.
The same reactions you see on member pages now sit under every edition, with the server emoji in the picker. Press one to join in, or press yours again to remove it.
Figures on the dashboard, clearer choices, and pressable text you can spot
Community
Your dashboard opens with four numbers
How many characters you have in play, whether anything is waiting on the team, whether a penalty is running, and whether you can join the game server. You used to scroll to see all four.
Community
Text links now have a faint underline
Actions written as text were only colored, which looked the same as headings. The line fills in when you point at it.
Community
Options and tick boxes can be pressed anywhere on the row
Each is a bordered row that fills with color once picked, so choices are easy to tell apart. The whole row is pressable, which helps most on a phone.
Community
You can drag pictures and clips onto the upload area
The upload area shows what you picked and its size, and takes files you drop as well as ones you choose.
Community
The appeals page clearly shows what can't be appealed
That part is now a warning with each case on its own line. You can only appeal a penalty once, and people were using it on reasons that never qualified.
Fixed
Pressing the site name takes you to the top of the front page
On the front page with a section in the address, it did nothing. It now clears the section and goes to the top.
Community
The member list shows three per row on wide screens
A shorter creature list, a foldable card, and one year in the footer
Community
Your characters show three at a time
Each character has its story, pictures, notes and privacy settings, so a long list pushed everything else down. The rest are one press away, and the whole card folds from its heading.
Fixed
The footer now shows just this year
It used to show a range starting from the year the Reserve opened, which nobody needed.
A deeper front page, dialogs that arrive, and form fields that say when they are wrong
Community
Filter the documentation by staff or member commands
Two more filters sit next to the bot names. They show for anyone who can see both kinds of command.
Community
The front page picture now fades into the page
The corners of the opening picture are softer, the title is bigger, and the bottom of the picture fades into the page instead of ending in a hard line.
Community
The front page numbers now line up as a set
Each number sits on a line with its label in small capitals below, and the digits line up.
Community
Warning dialogs now look different from regular questions
The dialog slides in as the page dims, with a colored bar and icon, so a warning no longer looks like an ordinary question.
Community
Form fields now show errors on the field itself
The border turns red, the field is tinted, and screen readers hear which sentence explains the problem.
The Reserve can be found, and quoted correctly rather than paraphrased
New
Search engines now know which pages exist and when they changed
The list updates itself, so a newsletter, event, policy or character shows up as soon as it's published and disappears when it isn't.
New
AI assistants asked about the Reserve get a plain summary
A plain file says what the Reserve is, how to join, which species are playable and what our words mean. Assistants no longer have to guess from the front page.
New
Shared news articles and events show their date and summary
Pages now say clearly what they are, so a search result for an event shows when it starts.
Privacy
Pages behind a sign in stay out of search results
The dashboard, staff area, tickets and transcripts ask search engines not to list them. Member pages shared with sprouts only are left out too.
Every command the bots have, explained on one page
New
A new documentation page lists every command
It shows what each command is for, what it asks for, an example you can type, and what game server commands send. Find it in the footer under This site.
New
The documentation shows the commands you can run
Signed out, you see every command any member can use. Sign in and the commands your rank can run show up too.
Fixed
Staff commands now say STAFF in their description
Staff commands now start with STAFF: everywhere, including the Discord command list, so members know they're not for them.
A partner's parents now show in the same family tree
Someone who married into a family used to have their parents drawn off to the side as a second tree. Both sets of grandparents now sit above the pair, in one drawing.
Fixed
The line over a clutch now sits above the young
It was drawn too low and ran along the top of the cards, so the short lines up from each young had nowhere to go.
Fixed
The line between two parents now touches both cards
When a parent had their own parents above them, the line between the pair floated in the gap instead of reaching either card.

A creature keeps its page, and you keep what you wrote
Privacy
Your page can be private, but character pages can't
Family trees run through other people's characters, so character pages stay open. You can still close your own page to anyone you like.
Privacy
You can keep a character's story and pictures private
Use the two switches under "Who may read about them" on your dashboard. Name, species, skin and family stay visible, and others are told you've kept the story private.
Characters
Hiding your characters from your page keeps their pages
You can still turn off the list on your page. Each character keeps its own page, so family trees that point to it still work.
Privacy
Characters of private pages stay out of search results
Anyone with the link can open the character page, since family trees need it. Search engines follow your own page's setting, though.
The line over a clutch assumed every young was the same width, so when one had a mate, the outer young's line didn't reach it. Lines now reach every young.
Saved family trees now look like the one on the page
Saved pictures used to come out as rows of boxes. They now show the same pairs, clutch lines and cards as the page.
Characters
Characters shown in two places in a tree are marked
Sometimes a character belongs in two spots in a family, but the drawing can only place it once. The second spot is now marked so it doesn't look like a mistake.
A button under the tree gives you the whole family as one picture, named after the character. Screenshots only caught part of a tree that scrolls sideways.
Privacy
Saved trees follow the same privacy rules as the page
If someone can't open a character's page, they can't get its tree picture either.
Every creature in a family tree shows its face and its owner
Characters
Family trees now show a picture of each character
Each card shows the character's picture, its name and who plays it, instead of just a name.
Characters
Any character in a tree opens its own tree
Press one to see the family from that character's place, so you can follow a line from either end.
Characters
Family trees label how each creature is related
Every creature in the tree now says what it is to the one you're viewing, like mother, sister or niece. You no longer have to trace the lines to work it out.
Characters
A creature's gender is easier to see on its card
It used to be a faint symbol that was hard to spot in both themes. It's now a badge with its own color, and the color is never the only way it shows.
Parents and offspring used to sit in two separate boxes. The page now draws the family as a tree, with partners side by side and their clutches underneath, across every generation.
Characters
The family tree shows every generation
A creature can now see all of its ancestors and descendants, not just one generation up and down. Every name in the tree links to that creature's page.
Characters
Adopted creatures are marked as adopted in the tree
An adopted creature is no longer drawn as if it hatched from its adoptive parents. Creatures raised alongside this one without a shared parent are listed under the tree.
A skin can be marked restricted and tagged with the condition it is
Characters
Character pages show the skin and the condition separately
These used to share one line, so you couldn't tell which skin a creature with a condition wears. They're now listed separately on the page, on character cards and on your dashboard.
The privacy statement says what leaving the server now does
Privacy
The privacy statement explains what happens when you leave
Leaving now clears your Alderon registration, deletes your registry entry and signs you out of the site. The privacy statement now says so, and lists what stays behind and why.

A transcript shows the framed messages the way the channel did
New
Bot messages keep their layout in transcripts
Bot messages used to show up as plain text in a transcript, so it was hard to tell the bot apart from people. They now look like they did in the channel. Older transcripts stay as they were.
Opening a transcript before the case is closed now tells you it opens when the case is done, and that you'll get the link then. A private report shows only your own channel.

A move to a new account carries everything the member owns
Fixed
Moving to a new account keeps your page, pictures and hours
A move to a new Discord account used to leave your page, pictures, playtime and some records behind. All of it moves now, including your comments, tickets, applications, appeals and reports.
A banner can be zoomed back out, and it no longer carries a pale seam
Fixed
You can zoom your banner back out after framing
Framing your banner used to cut off the rest of the picture for good. Your original upload is now saved, so you can reframe it any time or go back to the whole picture.
Fixed
Banners no longer have a pale line along the edge
A thin line was drawn around the banner, and on dark pages it showed up almost white. It's gone now.
A picture that cannot be read is caught before it is sent
Fixed
Pictures that aren't fully on your device are caught early
A picture stored in iCloud can be picked without being on your phone, and the upload failed halfway. The page now checks it right away and asks you to save a copy first.
Fixed
A failed upload keeps you on the form
You used to land on an error page. Now the message shows on the form and your picture stays selected.
Picture uploads no longer stop at an unhelpful error
The upload with the progress bar sometimes failed before the file reached us. When that happens, the page now finishes the upload another way. It takes a moment longer, but it works.
A case can be read back on the site, and the channels it uses are settings
New
You can read a case back on the site
The channel where a report was discussed is saved and can be opened here, with the report and cited rules at the top. Public cases are open to anyone signed in; private ones only to the people involved and staff.

The panel over your background matches your colors
The see-through panel used to work only with the default cream look. It now uses your own background colors, and the preview next to the sliders shows the real result.
Fixed
Clicking a species goes straight to its artwork
The strip used to jump and sometimes stop on the wrong card. It now scrolls smoothly to the right picture and highlights it for a moment.
An upload has to really be the picture it claims to be
Fixed
Files that aren't really pictures are refused right away
Uploads used to be checked only by file name, so a broken file could slip through and fail later. The file's contents are now checked, and you're told what to do instead.
A figure without a see-through background is pointed out rather than refused
Fixed
Web buddy pictures without a see-through background are allowed again
A picture with no see-through part used to be turned away. It now goes through, and you're told what arrived.
Fixed
You're warned when Photos flattens your picture
On a Mac or iPhone, picking an animation from Photos can give a still copy with a white background. If that happens, pick the file from Files or Finder instead.
A figure for the corner is checked for a see-through background
Fixed
Web buddy pictures are checked for a see-through background
A web buddy has to be cut out. One that wasn't used to wait two days for staff and then show as a rectangle. You're now told right away, and how to export it again.
Fixed
Your web buddy shows on a checkerboard while you choose
A white background looks the same as a see-through one on a pale card. The checkerboard shows the difference right away.
The page editor keeps your place, and every picture is in one card
Community
Saving no longer sends you back to the top
The editor now keeps you where you were. Changing a caption or trying a color used to jump you back to the top of the page.
Community
The color picker works the same in every browser
We've added our own picker, with a shade square, a rainbow slider and boxes to type a color code. Before, what opened depended on your browser, and some had no way to type a code.
Community
All your page pictures are now in one card
Your gallery, banner, web buddy and background each have a section for uploading, checking review and choosing what your page shows. These used to be spread across separate cards.
Community
You choose how big your web buddy is
A slider sets it anywhere from half to double its normal size, with a preview while you move it. On narrow screens it still stays small enough not to cover your writing.
Community
Start a line with -# to make it small
This works like it does in Discord, everywhere you write on the site. Use it to credit an artist, date a list or add a side note.
Fixed
Approved pictures now say approved
Your picture used to say shown while the message about it said approved. It's now called approved everywhere.
On pages with custom styling, the card explaining a role could come out see-through and hard to read. It's now drawn outside the page's styling, so it always looks the same.
Hover over someone's badge to see a short line, or press it to open a card with the emblem and a sentence or two. Every rank and team job now explains itself.
Community
The Rosa Staff badge shows its emblem in the sprout list too
It used to show only on a sprout's page. It now shows in the list as well.
New
The page editor groups uploading and choosing pictures
Everything you upload is now in one card, and every choice about what your page shows is in the next. Before, the two were mixed together down the screen.
Web buddies and backgrounds upload to the right place
Both were landing in your gallery and taking up gallery slots. They now have their own: 5 banners, 3 web buddies, 2 backgrounds and 3 gallery pictures.
Fixed
A full upload slot tells you which kind is full
Running out of web buddy slots used to say your page was full, so people deleted gallery pictures for nothing. The message now names the kind you were uploading.
For a few hours, everyone on the team showed as Backstage. Badges now show the specific job again, like illustrator or curator, and only show Backstage if there's nothing more specific.
The team now writes editions, with the newest one at the top. Each has its own page and link, and sharing a link shows its cover picture and opening line.
Community
Every role now has its own emblem
The badge under someone's name shows the emblem for their role, like a rose for a founder or a palette for illustrators. It shows on their page and in the sprout list.
Characters
You can choose to show retired characters on a page
A link above the character list on someone's page shows or hides retired ones. Their pages now open for everyone, so family trees can link back through them.
Characters
Characters are no longer deleted, only retired
Retiring takes a character off your page and can be undone. To delete one for good, open a ticket, because deleting it also removes it from other people's family trees.
New
Supporters and staff can upload their own page background
The Reserve scenery is still there for everyone. Supporters and staff can upload up to 2 of their own, and staff review them first. Pictures that are calm in the middle work best.
New
Supporters and staff can add a web buddy to their page
Put a cut-out drawing of yours in the left or right corner of your page, and it stays there as you scroll. GIFs and animated PNGs up to 3 MB keep moving. Staff review it first.
Fixed
Animated web buddies are hidden if you turn off motion
If your device is set to reduce motion, animated web buddies aren't shown to you. Still ones are shown as usual.
Fixed
Animated pictures keep moving after upload
Large animated PNGs and WebPs used to turn into still pictures on a white square. They now keep moving, and one that's too large is refused with a reason.
A dark stripe ran across every banner on the front page. The shading now fades up from the bottom behind the heading, and the rest of the photo stays clear.
Pick from 10 scenes from the front page gallery, from a misty lake to a redwood forest. The picture stays still as you scroll, and your writing sits on a panel so it's easy to read.
Pictures posted in a ticket stay in the transcript
Fixed
Pictures in a ticket stay visible in the transcript
Ticket transcripts used to link to Discord files that expire within a day, so pictures showed as broken. Files are now saved when they're posted, and a missing one explains why.
Searching the game logs by Alderon ID finds the rows
Privacy
Expired sign-ins are now deleted
Closing your browser left an expired sign-in stored forever. The weekly cleanup now deletes expired sign-ins, unfinished account links and unused growth codes.
The site used to show every time on a 24-hour clock. It now uses your browser's format, and a page shows its owner's local time in the format of their time zone.
Turning it off keeps everything you wrote and shows your page with your chosen colors and shape. Turning it back on restores your own styling exactly.
New
You can preview your page while choosing a look
The preview used to be hidden in the custom styling section. It's now at the top of the card and updates with every choice.
Fixed
The styling card says which choice wins
Your own styling is applied last and overrides the options above it. The card now explains that, and warns you when your styling already sets the thing you're about to change.
Declining a comment on your page, reporting one and withdrawing an appeal now ask before going ahead. A penalty can only be appealed once, so withdrawing an appeal is final.
Pictures used to show only in a row at the bottom of your page. Copy the line shown under a picture and paste it into your text to place it there. It then no longer shows in the bottom row.
The crop tool used a different shape than the page, so part of your banner was cut off. They now match, and the banner shows at a taller size on computers.
Background values over 500 characters were thrown away without a word, and even line breaks counted. There's now much more room, spacing doesn't count, and going over tells you.
Line breaks and comment author links work as expected
Fixed
Pressing Enter starts a new line
Every line used to run into the one before it. Enter now starts a new line, and pressing it twice leaves a gap.
New
Comment author names open a page preview
Click a commenter's picture or name to see their picture, tagline, rank and characters. You can open their full page from there or close the preview.
Fixed
Menus on styled pages are no longer see-through
The reaction picker could turn transparent on a styled page. Menus now use their own readable colors, and emoji no longer show as broken squares.
New
You can nest rules in your page styling
Your custom styling now supports nested rules, with & standing for the current selector. Before, a nested rule could be applied only partly without telling you.
Fixed
The sprout list filters as you type
Search used to wait until you pressed the button. Results now update as you type, and the link still saves your search so you can share it.
An emoji doesn't have to be added to the Discord server first anymore. Rosa's own emoji show in the picker and can't be lost when the server's list is cleaned up.
Fixed
Clicking outside closes the reaction picker
The picker used to stay open until you pressed its button again. Clicking elsewhere, pressing Escape or picking a reaction now closes it.
Fixed
Deleted emoji disappear from reactions
A deleted emoji used to leave a broken square that still counted toward the limit. It now disappears right away.
A page for every creature, and a screener that adds up
New
Every character has its own page
Each character page starts with a picture, next to the species, diet, skins, markings, hatch date and parents. The character's story is shown in full underneath.
New
Sprout pages are now laid out as one page
The picture at the top shows the person, and their details sit next to what they wrote instead of repeating down the screen. Their characters are picture cards you can open.
Fixed
The picture screener no longer lets explicit drawings through
The screener could let an explicit drawing pass because it looked at two related scores separately. It now adds them together, and puts uncertain pictures at the top of the staff queue.
Room left in every box, and a place to find your layouts
New
Every text box shows how much room is left
Your page text, tagline, captions, layout names and comments all had limits that weren't shown, so the end of a long one could be lost on save. A counter now shows from the first character.
Fixed
Saved layouts are all in one place
The save field sat at the bottom of the card while your saved layouts were hidden in the styling section. Saving and picking layouts now happen in one section.
Fixed
Saving a layout includes your latest changes
Saving a layout used to store the version from before your last edit. It now saves what you just wrote.
The two custom color fields used to override a ready-made look even if you never touched them, which could leave pale text on a pale background. Custom colors now only apply when you turn them on.
Light and dark mode no longer change a styled page
A few parts of a styled page, like captions and cards, used to switch to the site's colors. A page with its own styling now keeps its colors in both modes.
Fixed
Styled pages have space below the site header
A styled page used to run right into the header, hiding its rounded top corners. There's now space around every edge.
A sky in the corner, and a name that looks like you
New
The sun sets and the moon rises when you switch themes
There's now a sun in the corner in light mode. Switching to dark sets it and brings up the moon. If your device asks for less motion, the switch happens without the animation.
New
You can style your name with fonts and colors
Choose from 8 fonts, 6 effects and 8 color pairs. Every option previews your real name, so you don't have to guess what Carved looks like.
New
Save and switch between 5 page layouts
Each saved layout has a name and a short description. You can try new things without losing a design you want to keep.
Fixed
Pronouns look the same everywhere
Some pages said She/Her and others said she/her. They're all lowercase now, including ones already saved.
A banner used to be a crop of a gallery picture. You can now upload a separate banner and drag and zoom it to choose exactly what shows.
New
You can frame event pictures too
Event cards use a wide frame, but artwork often has a different shape. You can now pick the part that shows, and Discord shows the same crop as the site.
Community
You can't react to your own page
Reactions on your page now only come from other people.
New
Events, tickets and your page open with artwork
These three pages started with a heading and a form. They now open with artwork like the rest of the site.
The picker has every server emoji plus standard ones, and you can search it. Leave up to 3 reactions on a page, press one again to take it back, and hover a count to see who reacted.
Community
You can turn off reactions on your page
Reactions are on to start with. If you turn them off, existing ones are saved and come back when you turn them on again.
Uploads you can watch, and events Discord shows properly
New
Uploads show their progress
Attaching a clip to an appeal or a picture to an event used to show nothing, sometimes for a minute. The file now uploads with a progress bar and a preview, and the form saves right away after.
Fixed
Large attachments no longer wipe your form
A long clip could make saving fail and lose everything you'd typed. The file and the form are now sent separately.
Events
Events in a voice channel can be joined from Discord
Typing a channel name as the location gave Discord nothing to link to. Pick the channel instead, and the Discord event gets a join button.
Events
Event pictures show in Discord too
The artwork used to show only on the website. It's now sent to Discord as well, only when it changes, so fixing a typo still saves right away.
Choose from 6 ready-made looks, accent and background colors, and several fonts. Your whole page updates, and writing your own styling is optional.
New
Put one of your pictures across the top of your page
Choose one of your approved pictures as a banner above your page.
New
You can write your own page styling if you'd like
There's a box for your own stylesheet, with the name of every part of the page listed next to it. Anything that gets left out when you save is named, so you know why.
Privacy
Page styling can't load anything from other sites
Pictures on your page only come from your own approved ones. That means visiting someone's page doesn't reveal your address to anyone outside the Reserve.
Type !hunger in game and the answer is whispered back to you. Thirst, stamina, health, growth, playtime and the season work the same way, and !commands lists all of them.

Using an in-game command is logged
We save which command you used, when you last used it and how many times. That's what makes the limit on how often you can use it work.

Mac screen recordings often won't play outside Safari, and showed as a black box in transcripts. They now show as a file with a note to open it somewhere else.
Type the 9 digits and they're formatted as 000-000-000, on the application form and the registry screen. No more being told the format is wrong after you press save.
You need your Alderon ID and in-game name to apply
Both are used to create your registry entry when your application is accepted, so staff don't have to ask later. The form refuses an ID that isn't 9 digits right away.
